In the coming year, we will offer the opportunity for a limited number of PhD students from central and eastern European countries (Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine) to be a part of a funded fellowship for up to 12 months.

The Baltic University Programme Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) is inviting PhD students to apply for a fellowship to undertake research on matters related to sustainable development, at our office in Hamburg, Germany, in 2024.

The details are:

  • Funding period: 6-12 months
  • Monthly fellowship: 1.350 €
  • Health, accident, and liability insurance
  • Free intensive German course lasting several weeks before the research stay starts
  • A maximum of three PhD students will receive a scholarship

The requirements are:

  • Master’s degree completed no more than five years ago
  • Nationality and residence in one of the following CEE countries: Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine
  • Proposal for a sustainability relevant and practical topic
  • Sufficient knowledge of German, to be obtained with free German classes, before the beginning of the stay

Doctoral students can apply as long as the doctoral project is not completed until after the fellowship has been funded.

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2024. Interested persons should send us the following documents:

  1. Your curriculum vitae and copy of your passport to prove your nationality
  2. Your PhD plan and the planned work plan for your stay in Germany, for between 6 (minimum) and 12 months (maximum)
