The Master Thesis Training is an opportunity for master students to get supervision from an expert from a BUP participating university. This training offers an interdisciplinary learning experience, with sustainability as a shared concept.

We welcome Ivana Adamiková, M.Sc, Director of the Center for international cooperation at University of Ostrava as our new Centre Director in Czech Republic. Ivana has shared with us some thoughts about her new position as well as her past experiences that can benefit her work.

The BUP book Celebration of three decades is now available
In 2021, The Baltic University Programme celebrated its 30-year anniversary. To mark this occation the BUP Coordinating Secretariat, with the help of students and scholars, have created the book Celebration of three decades.

The BUP PhD Award 2022 winners
We proudly presented the winners of the BUP PhD Award 2022: Ignė Stalmokaitė in the reserach area Social Sciences and Humanities and Krzysztof Piotrowski in the reserach area Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering. The winners receive a prize in the form of a diploma and support of up to a maximum of 1000 Euro for either attending a scientific conference or publishing in a peer-review scientific journal.

The Baltic University Programme's Coordinating Secretariat now welcome applications for the position as intern during spring 2023. Offering internships is one way that the BUP strives towards supporting students in their first career steps.

First course on the BUP Course Platform
The BUP Coordinating Secretariat are happy to announce that we have now published our first massive open online course (MOOC) on the BUP Course Platform. The course Climate Change in the Baltic Sea Region is now available as a self-paced and free of charge course.

International Tourism Congress ITC2022
The ITC2022 is organized by the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, University of Lodz in cooperation with CiTUR Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation, with financial support from the BUP. ITC2022 will be held on 17-19 November 2022 at University of Lodz.

The BUP Coordinating Secretariat calls for students and PhD students at BUP participating universities, who are interested in becoming Student Ambassadors during the autumn term of 2022. As a Student Ambassador, you are asked to promote BUP as an organisation and our events and activities among your fellow students and academic staff.

BUP PhD Students Training 2022
The BUP announces the 2022 PhD Students Training that will take place 23-27 November 2022 at Lodz University of Technology, Poland. The participants will have different nationalities and academic backgrounds: Engineering, Social Sciences/Humanities and of Life Sciences/Environmental Sciences. The program of the training includes: lectures, workshops, students’ presentations of PhD work, individual consultancies of PhD work with international experts.

Applications open for BUP PhD workshop
The workshop “Societies, Cultures, Critical Theories” aims at strengthening collaboration and find novel ways of interaction between PhD students from participating universities of The Baltic University Programme (BUP), in the name of supporting the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful and sustainable development. Deadline for applications is 22 August 2022.

New student representatives
During the BUP student conference the participating student made their voices heard and voted for two new student representatives for the the BUP international board. The students that were elected are Tereza Homolova from University of Ostrava and Seymur Ingilabli from University of Lodz. They have both shared with us their thoughts and aims with their new roles.

BUP Symposium 2022
The BUP announces the Symposium 2022 that will be held 8-9 November online via Zoom. Day 1 will feature oral presentations from researchers from BUP participating universities in the Baltic Sea Region. Day 2 will feature sessions that focuses on research matchmaking.

This week the Coordinating Secretariat in Uppsala has welcomed our new colleague Lidiia Hryniv to the office. Lidiia is a Doctor of economic sciences and Professor of Ivan Franko Lviv National University.

The Baltic University Programme’s coordinating secretariat at Uppsala University and Slovak University of Agriculture, can proudly present the BUP’s annual student conference 2022. This year, we are focusing on the topic Resilient food systems from a Baltic Sea Region perspective.

Support Ukrainian scientists abroad
The BUP Associate Secretariat at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, has started an initiative titled "Baltic Science Bridge". The idea is to provide support to Ukrainian scholars and scientists unable to work in the country due to the war, with an opportunity to live and perform some academic work in a Baltic Sea country which is not part of the conflict. All BUP member universities are invited to join and offer this extremely vital support.

The BUP PhD Award 2022
The nomination for the Baltic University Programme (BUP) PhD Award 2022 is now open. The BUP supports high-quality research promoting sustainable development in a Baltic Sea region context. The award is established in two research areas: (1) Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering and (2) Social Sciences and Humanities.

Looking for teachers in Sustainable Tourism
Currently, the BUP is updating the course material focusing on developing course modules connected to the BUP Themes. They are designed and will be offered as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This means that they are accessed independent of time and place, as a full self-paced learning distance courses.

Support for young scholars
This year, we will support young scholars - PhD students, PhDs that have newly defended their thesis (max 2 years ago) and post doc. fellows - by inviting you to present your research at the BUP Symposium fall 2022 and give you the opportunity to publish a full paper in any of our special issues that BUP is the guest editor of.

This year BUP has an opportunity to give support to colleagues at BUP participating universities that are ready to host and organise a BUP academic event/activity that is of interest and relevance to sustainability and a Baltic Sea Region perspective, and that encourage interdisciplinary co-operations.

Announcing the BUP's Rector's conference 2022
This year the BUP and Uppsala University have the pleasure to welcome the Rectors of our participating universities to the 6th BUP Rectors Conference. This recurrent event is aimed to gather the rectors to discuss issues of strategic importance for the universities: Sustainability, Internationalisation and Quality Assurance.
