The Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport was founded in 1952. Students have multiple opportunities to improve their qualifications, master skills and receive training in the fields of physical education, sport and recreation (e.g. tourism). The university also provides other forms of supporting careers, for example complimentary courses in the areas of recreation therapy and tour guiding.

The mission of The Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport is to promote a broad understanding of sport. They want to develop the humanistic and natural sciences knowledge about health education, as well as about the humanistic idea sports universalism. They to transfer research results for the practice of physical culture and sports competition.

The Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport has several Olympic medalists associated to their Alma Mater. They are internationally qualified to conduct health-promoting online activities.

In the coming years, The Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport plans to focus on research and improve the education process. The university is open to collaboration with external partners who serve the local community, the region and the country to contribute to the development of science. They want to improve, modernize and expand infrastructure. To achieve these goals, The Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport intends to introduce modern methods and tools for sustainable management of the university.
