The BUP PhD Award 2021 is open for nomination

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) PhD Award for best thesis, supports high quality research promoting sustainable development in a Baltic Sea region context. The award is established in two research areas; Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities.

Today we open for nominations for the The Baltic University Programme (BUP) PhD Award, and look forward to learn about thesises defended during the past year, 2020, at our Participating Universities. To qualify for nomination, the thesis should be focused on research within either of the two broad areas Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities. The nominations will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • inter-/multi disciplinary approach
  • novelty (the quality of being new and unusual)
  • innovation (a new idea or method, or the use of new ideas and methods)
  • promoting sustainable development…
  • …in a Baltic Sea Region context

To qualify for the BUP PhD Award, the thesis must:

  • have been defended during 2020,
  • at a BUP Participating University, and
  • the candidate must be nominated by the supervisor/-s.
