BUP Annual Report 2019

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) PhD Award for best thesis, supports high quality research promoting sustainable development in a Baltic Sea region context. The award is established in two research areas; Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities.

BARI offers research internships with appropriate academic training across the Baltic Sea Region to Bachelor and Master students with interest in Life Sciences, Photon & Neutron Science and Welfare State.

We have extended the deadline for submission of papers to the journal Sustainability, Special issue "Challenges and Possibilities for Sustainable Development in a Baltic Sea Region context.

International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University invites researchers to the 2nd International Educational Methodological Conference; Environmental Education and Sustainable Development. Conditions, Purposes, Issues and Prospects.

The special issue of Sustainability entitled "Environmental Education for Sustainable Development", is now completed with 23 full papers. This Special Issue document and promote scholarly research and projects that show how environmental education can help towards the implementation of sustainability efforts.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Kaliningrad, Russia) would like to invite all its BUP partners to take part in the International Conference “Challenges by cultural and sport mega-events: Socio-economic and ecological perspectives”, which will be held on December 17-18, 2020 in Kaliningrad.

The announcement of the winners of the BUP PhD thesis award, has been published in the BUP Newsletter. There, we proudly presented the winners of the BUP PhD thesis award 2020. The winners of the PhD Awards receive a prize in the form of a diploma and a sum up to 500 Euro to cover travel costs and/or accommodation for attending a research conference. In addition, BUP will also cover travel costs and accommodation for presenting the research during one of the BUP events. Read their abstracts in our Research Notes Letter.

The Centrum Balticum Foundation organises the 13th annual Baltic Sea Forum of Finland in Turku on the 15th of June. This year the forum deals with the geopolitics, the internal security and the forest industry.

Invitation for Expressions of Interest to Host the 3rd World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research, April 2021

The "World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research" series started in 2017, based on the perceived need to explore and present concrete case studies which illustrate how Sustainability Science and Research can help to achieve the many goals listed in the document "Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

The Baltic University Programme's PhD Award, is given to a PhD work that is judged to be the most qualified according to the following criteria: inter-/multi disciplinary approach, novelty, innovation, and value for promoting sustainable development.

The Baltic University Programme’s Mobility Grant for Young Researchers aims to develop and strengthen the cooperation among young researchers in the Baltic Sea region.

The growth of digital technologies in all areas of educational, scientific and industrial activities should be accompanied by appropriate innovations in personnel training, taking into account the rapidly changing situations in both the economy and the financial sector on a global scale. The sustainability of development on a global, national and regional scale largely depends on the balance between social, economic and environmental processes. This is especially true in countries with different objectives for the near- and medium-term development.

BARI Mobility Programme is directed to three fields: Life Sciences, Photon/Neutron Science and Welfare State. The fields are not defined more exactly, so they can be interpreted broadly.

The Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities of Riga Technical University is organizing the 4th international scientific conference “Meaning in Translation: Illusion of Precision” that will be held in Riga from 27 to 29 May 2020. This time the focus is on Translation Studies in the Era of Digital Humanities.
