The objective of the training is to give PhD students from BUP participating universities, the possibility to meet and discuss scientific enquiries, problems and investigations with a focus on sustainable development in an interdisciplinary, intercultural, and regional context. Students will be exposed to different academic perspectives, traditions and cultures, fostering key skills. This international training will enrich the students’ own perspectives on sustainable development with experiences and perspectives from other disciplines and other countries.

The training will thus serve as a platform for the development of a common understanding of the regional problematique and open avenues for future cooperation on these issues. Interdisciplinary training at the PhD-level is essential for creating an understanding between scientists and researchers with different backgrounds (Western and Eastern European cultures), and for future collaboration for a sustainable future.

This is exemplified in the methodology of the training. A distinct focus is placed on interdisciplinary connections, research cooperation and expert consultancies.

Methodology of the training

PhD students will be offered training in interdisciplinary research cooperation with the guidance of an international group of interdisciplinary research experts, composed of senior scientists.
