The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists from the field of Economics, Finances and Accounting, Management, Public Administration and Political science in sharing new perspectives, exchanging ideas on regional competitiveness within and between various units of analysis,- countries, sectors, industries, firms, organizations and institutions.

The conference also aims to encourage the ongoing debate on the issues of smart (based on knowledge and innovation), sustainable (resource efficient, green), inclusive (keeping high-employment, social and territorial cohesion) regional competitiveness.

RECO Baltic 21 Tech 2nd Conference

Reco Baltic 21We are happy to announce that the 2nd conference of the project "RECO Baltic 21 Tech" will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania on 10th October 2012. The theme for this year´s conference is “Municipal Waste Management in the Baltic Sea Region: lessons learnt and next steps”.

In connection with the conference,  the second meeting of the Baltic Waste Management Council will take place. The Baltic Waste Management Council (BWMC) is an initiative of the project RECO Baltic 21 Tech, with the aim to gather decision makers at local and regional levels, in order to facilitate discussions and exchange of knowledge with the goal to optimize their waste management investments.

Sustainable Agriculture in The Baltic Sea Region with focus on climate change

The seminar is organized by NJF (Nordic Association of Agricultural Scientists) in collaboration with Swedish University of Agricultural Scientists, The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (KSLA) and The National Veterinary Institute ( SVA).
 
After one day of general presentations and discussions two parallel sessions are planned.
1. Plant production, plant nutrition, plant protection
2. Livestock production, environment, animal health.

Swedish Institute Scholarships

Swedish InstituteThe scholarship call is directed at Swedish citizens, or staff employed at any of the following categories of actors/organizations located in Sweden:
- Public agencies, universities, research institutes, science parks
- Municipalities, regional administrations
- Trade organizations/federations/partnerships, associations, and NGOs
 
In order to be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must belong to any of the following categories:
- Graduate/Post-graduate student
- PhD student
- Post-doctoral researcher
- Senior scientist
- Expert
 
The scholarships are for stays in the SI program countries: Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

Special attention is given to the strategies, policies, as well as economic instruments which support decisions for sustainable environmental management.
