Building Bridges - ESD for MAB BRs and other Designated Areas

GRUNDTVIG Workshop of LLP, supported also by UNESCO BRESCE Office

The planned workshop offers capacity building to personnel of UNESCO/MAB Biosphere Reserves (BRs) and other kinds of Designated Areas (DAs) and/or Protected Areas on the added value of integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the activities designed for visitors to their Reserves or Parks (i.e. Schools, adult groups, individual visitors, etc.).

WHEN: 30 March (arrivals) – 05 April 2011 (departures)
WHERE: Attica & Amfissa region, GREECE
LANGUAGE: English
EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS: ~ 35 (20 for Grundtvig + 10 extra from MAB BRs + 5 Greeks)
ACCREDITED COUNTRIES: BULGARIA, CYPRUS, FRANCE, ITALY, MALTA, ROMANIA, SPAIN, TURKEY (for GRUNDTVIG) + Other Selected Euro Mediterranean & SE European countries.

Global Education: The Intercultural Dimension

Call for applications for on-line training course

The North-South Centre is introducing its Global Education online training course on intercultural dialogue. This global education online learning course is designed for education practitioners, social workers, civil society, youth activists, as well as policy and decision makers, local authorities and intercultural cities. It provides an overview on why intercultural education is relevant and needed, what it means in theory and practice and how it can be improved in relation to the context of a globalised world, the local needs, its contents and methodology.

The course takes place from 12 March to 15 April, 2012 and the deadline for applications is 2 March

Competition for the creation of a Print Advertisement on Water

Water is life’s most precious resource. Those of us who have it, take it for granted.
Change begins at home -- Drop by drop.
Join us. Make an ad for the UN to inspire others to use water wisely.

The purpose is to create a print advertisement that inspires others to preserve water, now and for future generations. The competition calls on professionals and non-professionals in 48 European countries to design a newspaper advertisement, using the competition logo, which inspires the European public in a positive way.

EDUCATE

International e-postgraduate programme in Water Resources and Environmental Management

EDUCATE is an international e-learning postgraduate programme in Water Resources and Environmental Management organised by four leading Universities in the South-Eastern European region.

The course is a flexible distance learning programme based on e-learning. All educational material, lectures and tutorials are developed in English. The Academic Programme is organised as a pedagogic continuum and includes four Thematic Areas and a research thesis. Students can follow the entire postgraduate course or alternatively they can follow selected course elements, such as Thematic Areas and/or Modules according to their needs.

Successful completion of the entire postgraduate course (2 years) leads to the award of the Certificate of Academic Specialization in the field of Civil Engineering, study programme: Water Resources and Environmental Management from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. In case that only specific modules are selected students receive a certificate that includes the corresponding ECTS credits obtained upon successful completion of the selected modules.

ICCIP is proud to issue the first call for papers for the 5th Worldwide Online Climate Conference CLIMATE 2012/KLIMA 2012, to be held on 5-9 November 2012. Take part on this global climate-friendly event and use this unique opportunity to present and discuss your work with fellow researchers, practitioners, NGOs and the interested stakeholders from all around the world!
CLIMATE 2012 is being organized in cooperation with UNEP, SIDSnet, AOSIS, WMO, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory and further world bodies. Building on the success of the five previous online conferences (2008-2011) with millions of visitors and hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific papers, this year's interactive, free of charge online event will specifically focus on “Climate Change, Small Island Developing States and Sustainable Technologies”.
