SAIL for Students
Sustainability Applied in International Learning (SAIL) is an international Baltic University Programme conference in 2019 that includes a 12-day cruise onboard the tall ship STS Fryderyk Chopin. The conference participants will crew the ship
Sustainability, environmental problems including skills and knowledge transfer on the issues facing the Baltic Sea Region frame the curriculum. Lectures, group work, reading, data collection and sailing duty drive learning outcomes. Students prepare presentations for onboard discussion. Submission of post-sailing assignments are required for a pass.
SAIL is physically challenging. Testing individual limits, contest prejudices, strengthen personalities, and improve abilities whilst facing all the elements. Other benefits include networking and improving interpersonal skills through tasks like watch-duty, cooking and cleaning in teams crossing nationality, age and professional status. After completing the sailing, all participants will receive a sailor’s certificate.
SAIL for Students 2019 will start the 4th of August 2019 in Aarhus, Denmark, and finish on the 16th of August 2019 in Szczecin, Poland.
